Too cool for school

COLD

If there’s one adjective that comes to mind when thinking of the first two months of this year, it’s this. It’s so cold, it snowed in Nice. It’s so cold, the locals are freezing. It’s so cold I have nose bleeds every day. It is so cold that I just couldn’t get myself out of bed today to trudge all the way to class. I shall permit this exceptional truancy this time; after all, I’m only missing programming class, and I’ll quickly catch up on what I missed. I’ve always been good at rationalizing my actions.

This semester is so much lighter than semester 3, with the only pressing matters being finding an internship placement as well as thinking about where to continue my studies after completing my DUT in electrical engineering at IUT Nice.

Thankfully, I’ve already gotten an internship placement at a company here in Nice called Sterlab where I’ll have to update the programs they use for surveying the sterilization machines that they have.  I won’t be doing it alone though, as I’ll be working on the project with Marshella, whom I went together with for the interview last Friday. It’s no surprise that I got the placement though, I mean, just look at my CV.

I’m glad that I’ll be doing my internship in Nice as it saves the hassle of having to find a place to stay for two months, not to mention the tedious process of actually displacing myself to some strange unknown city. This Sterlab is quite a distance from my hostel though, as it’s located in Sophia Antipolis, and I have to take two busses to get there. Well, at least the internship is in April, so it won’t be freezing like last week.

I would have much preferred to get a place at the hostel where I live, because then I wouldn’t have to go anywhere at all. It would be perfect, I’d just roll out of bed in the morning, head downstairs, and I’d never have to even leave the building. I did send my CV and a cover letter proposing to update their database system to fix the problems they sometimes have with foreign names, but they replied with something along the lines of “it’s a national database that all the student residences use, so it cannot be modified. Good luck finding an internship elsewhere”.

Well, now that I’ve gotten that taken care of, and updated my blog, I feel like a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders. Now I shall continue to live my carefree life in the most carefree way possible.
