Happy New Year?

Hello friends,

Happy New Year!

Well, at least, I hope so. 2011 wasn’t a fantastic year for me; in fact, I think it was quite a sucky year, with lots of unfortunate and unnecessarily stressful events. Of course, it wasn’t completely horrible – there were some ups and downs.
Rather than go into the intricate details of the events of the past year, here’s a chart showing my average happiness for last year:

From this graph, it seems that my happiest moments are during the holidays or when I’m in Amsterdam. That is why this year, I’ll maximize my happiness during the holidays and I’ll travel more, hopefully.
Oh, and here’s a collage I made of some of the moments I remembered to capture in the past year:

Even if 2011 did have some lousy life events, I’ve learned a lot this last year. Among them are:
     1) The meaning and value of friendship
    2) Discretion
    3) The horrible consequences of procrastination
    4) It’s okay to regret some things, but we mustn’t beat ourselves up about it
    5) It’s normal to be upset or unhappy sometimes
    6) Sometimes directly confronting a situation makes it worse
    7) Never let anyone walk all over you.

Now I look forward to 2012, and hopefully with the lessons I learnt last year, I’ll encounter less crap this year.

    Optimistically,
        Hakim
